Music Composition? Yeah, Right. No, Really!

Oh so many years ago, I knew the basics of piano music. I can still read it - kinda. But I have long forgotten all the technical terms and symbols. Enter the computer. Over Thanksgiving, I was introduced to this dandy piece of software called Noteworthy Composer. (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/) You input the notes and it plays back. Nifty! Let's write something, but where do I start? Start with something familiar...

Long time no update... Several craft pictures have been added to the gallery. I am also a real live merchant with a consignment booth at Main Street Station in Grapevine, TX. I'm movin' on up, to the east side ... Check out my "business" website at http://www.tortugaln.com

The Photo Gallery

Thanks to the wonderful site administrator, I now have a photo gallery! So far, you can see a sampling of pictures from Ireland and the items I'm working on for the fall craft show in Hot Springs Village. The albums are password protected, and if you know the name of our bbd (big black dog), you can get in using all lower case letters.

Journey to Ireland

1400 km (800 miles) of driving and just as much walking found us at the end of our two weeks in Ireland. And what a lovely time it was. Campers are caravans, elevators are lifts, and four-thirty is half four, but things were more the same than they were different. When a gallery becomes available, I'll be sure to let you know. Until then, enjoy a few slides and the tale of "The Bus Ride".

They're Here!

The annual visit from the barn swallows is here! For the past seven or eight years, we have been fortunate enough to have one or more barn swallow families take up residence on our porch. They return around this same time each year, fortify the existing nests (we haven't the heart to knock them down), and settle in. Four or five babies will hatch in a couple of weeks. It's amazing to watch as the new barn swallows enter the wide world. And now you can watch and listen along with us! The bird cam is up and focused on the back porch nest. You will need to use Internet Explorer for viewing. http://birdcam.selfip.com:800/

Refrigerator Rater

Who knew a refrigerator could bring so much joy! When the compressor on our first refrigerator failed, we had to make the decision to repair or replace. A service call from the local Refrigerator Rob said it would cost more to repair it than it was worth. Figures. Visits to Sears, Home Depot and Best Buy land us a new LG icebox. No, we did not get the one with the television in the door. But we did get a beauty. Get this ... it actually freezes the ice cream. And it's got ice and water in the door! And, and it keeps veggies fresh for more than two days. And, and, AND it came with a humor magazine (sometimes known as the owners manual).

Animusic
Another entry from "Eye Drops". And one that should not be missed. We have both DVDs and share them with anyone who will sit down to watch. People like them for different reasons. My nephews think the robots are "totally cool". Some appreciate the work behind the scenes. Some like the music. I like the whole package. Buy a copy or two or three. "Pipe Dream" is probably their most famous animation.
